My current favourite fragrance is the latest perfume to be released from The Body Shop, Red Musk, which became available to purchase in September of last year. I fell in love with this perfume when I first smelled it instore before it went on general sale, so I put it at the top of my Christmas wishlist. Lucky for me, my lovely obliging boyfriend bought it for me and I’m even more in love with it now I’ve been wearing it practically every day (and he loves it too).
This is a very sexy, smokey fragrance that comes in both oil and eau de parfum forms. I have the oil version as I find that oil fragrances last much better on my skin (The Body Shop have oil versions of all their Scents of the World perfumes too, which I am also a fan of.) The Body Shop describes the fragrance as “spiced musk with hot notes of cinnamon and intense tobacco for a distinctly different fragrance.” And it is different – not like any perfume I have ever smelled before, which I think is why instantly felt the need to have it when I first took a whiff. Rich, warm, musky, and androgynous. I don’t think it would smell out of place on a man, but that doesn’t make me love it any less. Plus, I think this is a very all-year-round sort of fragrance. I first thought that this is a distinctly wintry scent, yet now I think this would also be much suited to the summer because it smells so warm and sexy. Wood smoke fires and hot gingerbread cookies, or barbecues and campfires on summer nights – take your pick, and let me know what you think.
