December Favourites 2015

Bourjois 123 Perfect CC Cream – £9.99

This month, with the exception of Christmas Day and New year’s Eve, I have been enjoying wearing pretty minimal makeup. I’ve found myself mostly reaching for this Bourjois CC cream in shade 34 Bronze, which now suits my skin tone again due to the current lack of sunlight in Britain. I’d forgotten how much I like this product. It evens out my skin without completely masking it and it doesn’t feel at all heavy. You are left with a healthy looking finish that lasts pretty well for such a lightweight formula, so it’s a really lovely everyday sort of product. If only they made it in darker shades!

NYX Liquid Suede Cream Lipstick in Soft-Spoken – £6.50

I’m sure you’ve heard the hype surrounding these new NYX lipsticks. I have already featured the shade Kitten Heels (a beautiful red) in a previous monthly favourites post, but since then I have managed to get my hands on a couple more shades. This lipstick has become my new favourite everyday colour. Because of it’s almost-matte finish it is pretty long lasting, so I generally only need to apply it once, whilst also being extremely comfortable to wear. But the colour is why I really love it. Soft-Spoken is a really flattering deep, warm nude shade – quite nineties. I would imagine it is one of the more popular shades of this lipstick because I think it would suit quite a lot of skin tones.

L’Oreal Color Riche Nail Polish in 300 Walk On The Beach – £2.99

I found this pretty colour in TkMaxx and bought it thinking it looked like a good dupe for Barry M Lychee (my bottle of which my mother decided to ‘experiment’ with by adding pink to). However, this shade is not exactly like Lychee, but a slightly more grey-toned version. In fact, I think I prefer it on me. This is a perfect example of a ‘greige’. It does need at least two coats for solid colour, but that is pretty standard for pale nail polishes. I think this such a lovely, wearable, almost-nude.

Aveeno Hand Cream – £5.45

I think we all need a good hand cream this time of year. Me especially, as I tend to get a little bit of eczema on my hands when the weather gets cold. This Aveeno hand cream is an excellent one. It has a fairly thick consistency, but is not at all greasy, so it absorbs very quickly into the skin. My boyfriend uses this too (his eczema gets very bad this time of year) and he loves how this cream calms and cools his sore skin and then continues to keep your skin moisturised throughout the day, not like some which are gone after every time you wash your hands. I cannot recommend it enough, especially now as it is currently on offer at Boots.
